Inspire Creativity, Inspire Change

When Alyce Rogers, a current student of Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, requested to interview our owner Alexandra McKeown, former Douglas Anderson student, for a school project it was met with a resounding "yes!"

Hyperion Brewing Company was built from a passion to be creative on a daily basis and to share an experience with its' patrons. Each time you visit the taproom we want you to try something new, innovative, or bizarre. We enjoy recreating old traditions or brews that aren't always produced in other breweries. Our mission is to brew bold, rebellious beers that are inspired from our team's creativity or from your creativity. Want to see something brewed? All you have to do is ask and Hyperion delivers.

Our brewery was designed to be the local neighborhood bar, to build it's roots in a community where company and neighborhood create a new identity together. Historic Springfield deserves the commercial renaissance that is currently being fueled by new businesses, like Hyperion, moving into the area. Our owner, Alexandra, and the team at Hyperion are proud to be a part of the change brewing in Springfield.

Grand Opening Announcement

For Immediate Release

Jacksonville, Florida - March 28, 2017 - Hyperion Brewing Company announces it’s grand opening is scheduled for Friday, May 19, 2017 in historic Springfield. This will be Jacksonville’s first Nano-Brewery. The new brewery will serve a variety of beer styles, traditional and innovative, on a 1BBL system, ensuring there is an offering for each guest to enjoy.

A Nielson Household Panel Survey stated the primary reason consumers purchase craft beer is to experiment with different styles or flavors. In response to that survey, Hyperion Brewing will serve a rotating tap list without a “core” group of beers. “We prefer flights to flagships. We believe in freedom of choice.” Owner, Alexandra McKeown says, “Our goal is to let the public decide what our core beers should be. We will use our POS system data and feedback from guests in the taproom to determine which beers to distribute in the future.”

The Grand Opening will kick off on Friday, May 19 with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Doors will officially open at 5:00 p.m. with the first fifty guests set to receive a free branded flight glass and ticket for a free beer at a later date. Springfield based Eddis and Sons Food Truck will be in attendance to serve up legitimate, Philadelphia-style cheese steaks. The opening also leads directly into the Historic Springfield Tour of Homes hosted by SPAR, Springfield Preservation and Revitalization, on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21 from Noon – 5:00 p.m. Hyperion Brewing will be open during the Tour of Homes.

Hyperion Brewing will have fifteen taps, however, there will be a limited selection of it’s own beers available. “We’ll be brewing at a break-neck pace to have as many of our beers ready for the grand opening as possible,” says Head Brewer Troy. The brewery will offer Crowler cans to allow guests to take beer off-premise. Patrons can purchase up to two Crowlers per person during the grand opening weekend.

The Jax Beer Bus has partnered with Hyperion Brewing Company to make transportation from the beaches area to the brewery safe and convenient. The Jax Beer Bus will pick up from Green Room Brewing Company at 4:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. All guests must be 21 years or older. Tickets are $15.00 round-trip and include a ticket for a free beer from Hyperion Brewing Company at a later date. The Jax Beer Bus will be BYOLB, “Bring Your Own Local Beer.”

Rezoning Hearings

You Gotta Fight. For Your Right. To Drink Our Beer!
City Hall
117 W Duval St.
Jacksonville, FL 32206

Due to the nature of our business model, Hyperion Brewing Co. like other breweries before us in Jacksonville, is required to rezone our property on Main Street to a PUD before being allowed to operate. The zoning change allows us to manufacture beer and also sell it directly to you, the consumer.

After Main and Six Brewing's tireless fight in convincing the city to allow them to open a craft brewery in Springfield, it's Hyperion's turn. On November 3rd we received our 1st approval from the Planning Commission but we have three hearings left and we need your help. Join us on November 9th to have your support recognized in front of the full City Council and/or on November 15th for the LUZ Committee.  Our final hearing on November 22nd is not open to the public to make comments so email our council members now or join us in person at the meetings to show your support. It's as easy as filling out a card at the Council's Chambers in support or you can speak directly to them at these meetings to advocate for us.

A tremendous thank you to everyone who has already sent in emails or attended the first meeting! If you have questions shoot us an email at
