Jay Schussman

Taproom Manager


Jay has been in the restaurant and service industry for almost 15 years! His passion for creating a chill and welcoming environment will have anyone feel relaxed when they enter Hyperion. When Jay isn't at the brewery he enjoys all things FISHING. You can ask him anything about fishing and hear stories for hours. Jay is an amazing force at Hyperion. He and his team keep our customers coming back by providing amazing service, a relaxing environment, and a great space to be at.

Steve and Sheree Schussman

Steve and Sheree Schussman — Hyperion Brewing Co. in Jacksonville, FL
This lifelong duo met in their 20s in Kalamazoo, MI. Where all great stories start, they met at the local bar. Sheree a waitress and Steve the sound man for the local band. Having an entrepreneurial spirit at an early age, Steve and a friend invented a pre-filter system for race cars. That invention (1979) started his company OUTERWEARSRACING ACCESSORIES. Steve bought out his partner in 1985 and brought in his true partner Sheree Schussman. Wildly successful, the two ran this business until selling it in 2001. Enjoying their retired lives, they settled into Jacksonville, FL to be close to their kids. Their entrepreneurial spirit was again ignited when they heard of the Hyperion Brewing Company idea to build a nano brewery here in Jacksonville. They jumped at the chance to be a part of this great venture, to be part of a local business in a great community, helping to create something they love so much; craft beer.
Matthew Fletcher
Head Brewer
Matthew Fletcher — Hyperion Brewing Co. in Jacksonville, FL
Matthew comes from a long line of Fletcher's. They are typically a kind group, highly independent, with a strong desire to prove themselves. Matthew has always had a love for craft beer and began his journey in craft beer like so many others before him: drinking it, home brewing, and experimenting with new styles. He started at Bluegrass Brewing Company delivering kegs, cleaning and all the grunt work that comes from working in a brewery. Matthew worked his way up to become Head Brewer at Bluegrass Brewing before moving on to Triple C Brewing Company in Charlotte, NC. Returning to Jacksonville and joining the Hyperion Brewing team as afforded Matthew the opportunity to work on micro, macro and now a nano brew system.


Matthew is the life force of Hyperion.
